There is range of Rugby League programmes currently running in the Taranaki region to keep the game we love going strong.
Smokefree Skills
This new development programme will provide all that participate an
opportunity to learn generic ball handling and kicking skills in a new and
exciting curriculum. This programme has been designed specifically with
progressive learning and game development in mind through a series of
lessons and events.

School Tournaments
Schools have been assigned to each zone to ensure that tournaments have
an even number of teams participating relevant to the Junior Clubs within
the area. This will hopefully help create a link between the schools and
clubs.

Jets
The focus for the programme is fine tuning on the pass, catch, grip of
ball, play the ball, tackling technique, structure of the game, field
position on attack/defence.

LeagueFuture
LeagueFuture is a programme that has been specifically designed to cater
for Taranaki’s elite Rugby League players with better learning
opportunities in mind. Many players aspire to be professional sportspeople
and it is our aim to give our best every opportunity to follow their dreams
by providing a well structured development programme that not only improves
their ability and skills as a player but also give a better understanding
of the ‘external factors’ that determine individual
character.

Education Academy
The Taranaki Rugby League in conjunction with Tony Kemp (Te Ara) and the
Western Institute of Technology at Taranaki (WITT) has developed an
academic based programme that will enable members of the Taranaki Rugby
League access to further learning, employment and sporting
opportunities. These opportunities have been made available through a
Rugby League Education Academy based at WITT.
